We missed you this time around!
Hi, London!
We're back for our second community meet-up in London, this time co-hosted with our friends from Amazon Web Services (AWS startups) and Civo.
Gitpod’s developer platform provides on-demand cloud development environments (CDEs) to create software faster and more securely. CDEs are pre-configured with all tools, libraries and dependencies needed to write and review code. They can be easily duplicated and shared across teams.
AWS (startups) From Airbnb to Zocdoc, the world's top startups build on AWS. But they didn't do it alone. So whether you're looking for help solving a technical challenge, hiring the right engineers, or finalizing a fundraising round, we have all the resources you need to get started. There’s a reason more startups build on AWS than any other provider: we're here to help you succeed, from inception to IPO.
Civo is the first cloud native service provider powered only by Kubernetes. Also, check out Civo Navigate Europe 2023, a major tech conference on cloud native technologies with 50+ speakers.
Join us for an evening of networking with our community, developer experience (DevX) enthusiasts with pizza and drinks.
This is an opportunity to connect, learn and collaborate with others in the community.

Hi, London! We're back. Thanks for joining us 😄
Kunal Kushwaha
Some of the finest leaders are the ones who remember what it was like to work their way up from the bottom or who can foresee themselves in other positions.
As corporations are being taken over, we have seen a shift in how companies function on a human level. In this session, you’ll learn how to use empathy driven development as your superpower to become a better engineer.
The talk would start by demystifying the myths, followed by how to embed empathy in your engineering practices. We'll focus on how developer empathy plays a major role in every stage of your career, be that as a mentee or a mentor, a junior or a senior engineer, etc.
This talk is going to be beneficial for everyone, no matter the experience level. From junior engineers to seniors, community members, managers, etc. This talk is suited for all the technology teams, enterprise leadership, or open source communities as they will learn how to elevate their work with developer empathy, in every field.
Empathy is the root of open source and communities. It's what makes us human and builds a thriving culture. This talk will benefit the ecosystem as we'll learn how to implement the highly overlooked developer empathy practices in our day to day lives along with some of the mistakes to avoid.

With everything moving to the cloud, why haven’t our development environments? In fact, they already have!
With CDEs (Cloud Development Environments) you get all the power of the cloud: elasticity, scale and security, but for your dev environment.
Gitpod’s “Dedicated” deployment model enables companies sensitive code and access to never leave their cloud account perimiter.
Building on Jim’s intro to CodeWhisperer, Lou will give a 101 on CDEs and how architectural deployment models like Gitpod Dedicated can accelerate the adoption of Generative AI in an organisational setting by resolving many of the security, audit, privacy and data concerns.
Join us also after the talk to dig into the intersection of CDEs and Generative AI over a drink or two!
