Topic: Democracy's Library Canada

Andrea Mills, Executive Director of Internet Archive Canada, and Brewster Kahle, founder of Internet Archive, will share the vision behind Democracy’s Library—a global initiative to provide free, permanent access to government and civic information.

Their talk will explore how open digital infrastructure can empower citizens, preserve public knowledge, and strengthen democratic engagement.

Speakers:

Andrea Mills is Executive Director of Internet Archive Canada, where she leverages extensive experience in digital preservation to lead large-scale digitization projects across academic libraries, archives, and government institutions, with a focus on building a comprehensive Canadian digital library and ensuring equitable access to Canadian heritage.

Her work centres on making government and public resources freely available in accessible formats, supporting long-term preservation and sustainable digital access for future generations.

Brewster Kahle is an American digital librarian and computer engineer, best known as the founder and director of the Internet Archive, a nonprofit dedicated to providing universal access to all knowledge.

He also created the Wayback Machine, a widely used tool for archiving and accessing historical versions of web pages. Brewster also serves as chair of the board of Internet Archive Canada.

Agenda:
