Most Canadian municipalities publish their council record as PDFs, sometimes scanned.
A handful of SaaS vendors cover roughly 500 cities between them; the rest are a long tail of one-off formats, and then there's Toronto, whose minutes are a breath of fresh air.
Mike will show what it took to build a searchable record across both.

Mike is the solo developer behind Civic Lens, a searchable record of Canadian council meetings, bylaws and municipal spending, built from the cities' own documents and traced back to source.
