A hands-on session working through pernicious React bugs, and how to squash them for good. By working through a concrete Todo List example, we’ll leverage TypeScript and JavaScript features to gradually improve the reliability and performance of our code. We might even push beyond the limit of what’s sensible, inviting a reflexion on the balance of code readability and its runtime performance.

Covering React reconciliation fundamentals, we’ll provide the context needed for structuring large-scale component architectures, alongside best practices for designing components that stay maintainable over time. Through a case study using TanStack Query, you’ll tackle data fetching at scale to ensure optimal app performance with complex data requirements.

Finally, we’ll focus on post-deployment strategies, including setting up observability and monitoring tools to detect issues early. This workshop provides an adaptable playbook for creating robust applications that endure, building a skill set to navigate the evolving problem spaces and needs across different project stages, whether you’re developing from scratch or scaling for global audiences.

Javascript that scales is Typescript. Typescript has seen massive adoption in recent years and it's just the beginning.

This talk is going to give us leverage from Typescript over React.

1. We will be talking about creating strongly typed function component props to understand what we can pass and avoid making mistakes.
2. Next we will see typed function component state, passing types in useState & useReducer hooks
3. We will also see typed class components, events and event handler.
4. Let's not forget about typed context and refs for maximal benefit.
