Lucky demonstrated the power of the modern browser, by controlling a drone with bananas. Yes, you heard that correctly - bananas. We had no idea this was even possible and his demo was insane π€―π Check out the full talk here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vg1tlvETt0&list=PL37ZVnwpeshGuMZrOZzEo8QLBjjpbtBGm&index=11
Taz was born in South Africa, but he hasn't been back since moving to Canada since he was 5 years old. Learning about the country of his birth, through Lucky, was amazing and we're so happy to share the good and the bad with all of you ππ½
Today, Lucky is actively supporting the community through his efforts at Jozi.js and Soweto.js. Make sure to check out one of their events if you're in the area! β€οΈ

π We're back in Budapest with my old friend Szabolcs!
We met 9 years ago at JSConf EU in Berlin, where Szabolcs has been speaking about running something like that in Budapest. That's some big talk, to do anything remotely like what JSConf EU was. But 9 years later, Taz finally attended and saw exactly what Szabolcs was envisioning back then, and it was truly wonderful ππ½
However running a conference and other community events through the pandemic was difficult. We chat about that and how work changed for Szabolcs through that period as well π»

Do you know that feeling when you watch a tech talk and you just connect with it? π
That's exactly what Elian was able to do at React Brussels, with his talk on... Astro π
The content drew Taz into chatting more with Elian, who had a story that we just had to share with you. Being able to deliver content that connects is one thing, but what's behind the person that can do it? π€
Join us as we chat with Elian about Astro, public speaking, and his journey! ππ½

π Today weβre joined by Lee Robinson from Vercel! Lee is the Director of Developer Relations at Vercel, and is involved with communities everywhere.
Taz chats with him while attending the React Miami conference, where Lee spoke about the latest improvements to the Vercel platform. We chat with him about that, growing up in Iowa, videography & photography, and how heβs combined all of those passions for developer relations as Vercel has grown from 34 employees to over 300 today.
We hope you enjoy! π

ππ½ We're back with Alexandra Sunderland, at JSConf Budapest!
She's a fellow Canadian that just gave a talk about the emotional chaos of deploying code π Check out more on her presentation here ππ½ https://jsconfbp.com/speakers/alexandra_sunderland/
Remote work is new for a lot of us, but Alexandra has been working remotely for quite a long time. She's written about the best practices for being an empathetic people-first leader, covering topics from accounting for remote-specific biases when hiring to how to give out promotions when you don't get to see people every day ππ½ Taz recently was challenged with providing equipment to remote employees, and of course, Alexandra has documented best practices for that too π Check out her book here ππ½ https://amzn.to/3VJ0OtR
